Eleanor Sanchez Appointed as Program Chair of Nursing for CTU Pueblo Campus
Colorado Technical University (CTU) has appointed Eleanor Sanchez as Program Chair of Nursing for its Pueblo campus. CTU's Nursing programs include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) and an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Ms. Sanchez will direct the academic, administrative and fiscal efforts of faculty, staff and students, as well as enforce high-quality academic standards. Ms. Sanchez's experience will play a key role in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of curriculum within the CTU nursing program.

April 28, 2008 CTU of Colorado Springs Received the Alpha Phi Alpha Award of Honor
Colorado Technical University (CTU) of Colorado Springs recently received the Alpha Phi Alpha Award of Honor during the 60th Western Region Convention held by the fraternity in Denver. CTU accepted the award for its “Outstanding Service to the Community.”

In addition to a 30-year background in business development, general management and human resources in International Fortune 500 companies, Boyd brings extensive consulting experience in the high-tech, manufacturing, health care, non-profit and insurance/financial service industries. He is certified by the HR Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and is currently a candidate for the status of Fellow as granted by the Association of Outplacement and Career Consulting Firms International. A Bachelor of Philosophy, Boyd earned his MBA in Organizational Management from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Pueblo Residents to Receive Free Medical and Surgical Treatment during “A Day of Surgical Giving”
On May 10th, Colorado Technical University will participate in a day of Surgical Giving in the Pueblo area. International Surgical Missions at Parkview Medical Center, in partnership with Pueblo Surgery Center, will provide medical personnel, supplies, and medications needed to perform outpatient surgical procedures for individuals in need who otherwise could not obtain treatment. Three operating rooms, a colonoscopy screening room, and minor surgery rooms will employ approximately 30 volunteers, including a team from CTU.

March 27, 2008 Twenty-five Wounded Service Members Receive Full Scholarships to Colorado Tech Online
Twenty-five United States service men and women at Walter Reed Army Medical Center have been awarded full Wounded Warrior Scholarships from Colorado Technical University Online (CTU Online). Recipients were chosen by a ten-person scholarship selection board including former military officers and Career Education Corporation educators and chaired by Tammy Duckworth, Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs, a Major in the Illinois Army National Guard, and a Wounded Warrior herself. The recipients, who come from across the country, were honored at a dinner on March 8, 2008, at Walter Reed, which was attended by General Richard A. Cody, the Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.

February 26, 2008 CTU Earns High Honors From the Council of College and Military Educators
Colorado Technical University (CTU) was recently awarded the prestigious 2007 Institution Award by the Council of College and Military Educators. The honor, awarded for an institution's "dedication, leadership and numerous accomplishments in providing quality voluntary off-duty education programs" to the military, is highly respected in military circles. Greg Mitchell, president of CTU Colorado Springs, received the award on behalf of Colorado Technical University at the CCME symposium held last week in San Francisco.

Colorado Technical University announces the appointment of Richard Kettner-Polley, Ph.D. (Harvard University) as University Dean of Management with responsibility for management programs across all CTU campuses. Having previously served as Chancellor of CTU's Institute for Advanced Studies, Dr. Kettner-Polley now turns his expertise to the demands of undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in management across the six ground campuses and the online division.

Colorado Technical University announces the appointment of David Leasure, PhD as Chancellor of its Institute for Advanced Studies. Dr. Leasure served as the dean of doctoral computer science and Senior Vice President for Expansion and International programs after rejoining the university in 2007.

May 23, 2007 Three Weekend Events Celebrate Juneteenth Festival
The observance of Juneteenth dates back some hundred and forty years to commemorate a historical turning point in the beginnings of African American emancipation. Two years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil War continued to rage on until its last recorded battle in Texas in 1865. It was June 19 of that year that General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston to proclaim all Confederate acts as defunct. So was born the tradition known as Juneteenth in celebration of this day.

CTU Joins Clothing Drive for Servicemen and Women
Colorado Technical University is proudly participating in a grass roots clothing donation drive to benefit injured servicemen and servicewomen in Iraq. Recently, shipments of 1200 pieces of clothing were shipped to the Air Force Theater Hospital at Balad Air Base in Iraq.

April 2, 2007 Generous ISSA Donation to Benefit CTU Library Resources
Colorado Technical University has accepted a generous donation to its Colorado Springs library from Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) in the form of Information Technology and Computer Science books and reference materials valued over $5,000. CTU is extending an invitation for the public to attend its scheduled Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to open the new addition on April 17th at 10 am.
